Wellness exams

A yearly check-up is just as important for your pet as it is for you. Regular exams can help spot medical problems before they become serious. A yearly exam also gives you, and your veterinarian, a clear picture of your pet's overall health. During wellness exams, our veterinarians (located in the east village/lower east side) will discuss with you dental care, nutrition, behavior, diseases and vaccinations. We offer wellness exams for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, pocket pets and other exotic animals.

housecalls

House calls

If your pet is seriously ill and cannot make the trip to the hospital, our veterinarians can come to your home. House calls are ideal for elderly pets, nervous or aggressive pets, homes with multiple pets and pet owners who have hectic schedules or difficulty driving. The veterinarians and staff at Urban Vets Animal Hospital staff will bring thorough, comprehensive, compassionate care to you home when it is most convenient for you. Our house call services include scheduled after-hours visits, pet transport, and pet sitting by appointment. Please call for details or to schedule an appointment.

Dental care

Proper dental care can have far-reaching health benefits for your pet. Diseases like gingivitis and periodontal disease can cause pain and discomfort for your pet, and could lead to other, more serious health problems. We recommend regular dental cleanings and check-ups for your pet. We offer teeth cleaning, polishing and extractions, and our staff will help educate you about the best ways to care for your pet's teeth at home.

microchipping

Microchipping

Microchips are a permanent form of identifying your pet. The chip identifies the animal with a number that is read using a special scanner. Most veterinarians and humane societies have these scanners to help lost animals be reunited with their families by picking up the animal’s microchip number and searching the system to find a match with owner’s information to call. It is not GPS, so you cannot locate an animal.
